Dance and I share a relationship without a beginning or an ending.
I must get to Mars –
To carry my body as luggage and leave the Earth.
I will twist and turn a thousand times in the 2.5 trillion miles in between,
Until E ≠ mc2,
F ≠ ma,
π ≠ 3.14159…,
……
This piece was created for the purposes of travelling to the unknown, that takes on various opportunities and attempts to get a grip of the choices that life has to offer. The past flows through our bodies like a stream of water, ephemeral, but it continues to establish a profound presence. Noted by Lock, “because dance allows us to meet, to get acquainted with, and to be friends with one another. It allows us to devote a fragment of our lives, to weave the power of trust and reliance through a duet. I wonder, even if I were to travel to faraway land, will we still be able to communicate?”In another relationship with dance, we seek to pass on our faith in life, and thus we have the reason to persevere in dance. The audience and I are connected through dance – where the audience watches the performance intently off-stage, and I dance fervently on stage. When the ephemeral dance performance is placed on site where the dancer and the audience can see and interact with one another, will we still see one another after multiple farewells?“Dance is a form of art that leaves countless traces on the body… and this performance offers an opportunity to deal with such traces. Apart from the traces that could be seen or felt, those that are hidden in our bodies will be summoned when you dance,” Dick Wong points out the feature of this performance, and opines that “the body of a dancer is an open book.”
