JOCKEY CLUB New Arts Power – Unlock Dancing Plaza Hands ᛫ Footprint ᛫ Sound #danceless performance series

HandsFootprintSound - #danceless Performance Series

A body action becomes a voice that echoes into infinity.
May it be a hand or a foot. The sound that it makes shall resonate.
Finding inspiration in everyday life, we return to the basic to recall our dance instinct.

Unlock Dancing Plaza has been exploring the possibilities and pleasures of the body rhythm based on the notion of #danceless. The company advocates that “everyone can dance”. The showcase will invite both amateur and professional dancers, regardless of their backgrounds, to express themselves and connect with the community.

Among the three public shows of #danceless, the first two will be co-performed by workshop participants and company dancers. The last performance, The Sound, will be performed by the Unlock dancers.

#danceless Community Workshop

There is no pre-requisite. There is no boundary. It is a bliss to let one’s body dance towards infinite space.

Unlock Dancing Plaza designs a series of community workshops based on the notion of #danceless. Mundane objects such as paper and plastic bags will become a medium, through which every individual can acknowledge one’s corporal uniqueness rather than techniques.

The dance company will invite a number of suitable participants to take part in a rehearsal workshop and get the first taste of spotlight. Towards the end, the participants will unite with the artists to perform on stage together. A refreshing experience awaits.

Bodynamics Workshop

They sit and run. They jump and leap. They dance and clap. Every spontaneous move is a creative reflex from a young mind. Bodynamics workshop is thoughtfully designed by Unlock Dancing Plaza for children to unlock their potential through a combination of sport and dance.

Bodynamics is inspired by the “Expression Physical Education” in Japan and also by the teaching method of dance educator, Chiyoe Matsumato. The workshop will end with a mini dance choreographed by everyone, after a series of imaginative games filled with sweat, endorphins and serotonin.

Hey, bring a bottle of water and let’s enjoy the workshop !
